A game of “telephone” between two machines (CLIP Interrogator ViT-L & Midjourney). Starting with a portrait of me captured by photographer Ize Commers, the machines described & reproduced the image iteratively. Though not parallel to training, when fed only each other’s outputs, the machines quickly collapsed into producing nonsensical results –– such as a three-armed portrait, giving me a gun, & turning me into what one machine described as the “perfect human female specimen,” rendered by the other as a white woman on a plane in Stephen King’s “The Langoliers.”
